Maintaining your gas fire pit doesn’t take much effort, but it pays off in the long run. Unlike wood-burning fire pits, gas fire pits require less upkeep, and with a few simple steps, you can ensure every flame burns bright every time you light your fire pit.
At EasyFirePits, our marine-grade stainless steel burners are built to last a lifetime, but with a little regular care, you can ensure your entire fire feature looks and performs like new for years to come.
1. Keep Your Burner Clean
Debris such as leaves, dirt, or even spider webs can block burner ports and affect the flame pattern.
- Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean your burner regularly.
- Avoid harsh chemicals; warm water and mild soap are usually enough.
- For marine-grade stainless steel burners (like ours), corrosion is not an issue, but cleaning helps maintain peak performance.
2. Inspect Gas Connections
Your fire pit’s gas lines and fittings are the heart of its performance.
- Periodically check for leaks using a soapy water solution around fittings (bubbles indicate a leak).
- Make sure quick-connects, hoses, and valves are snug but not over-tightened.
- Replace damaged hoses or worn connections right away to keep your system safe.
3. Protect Against the Elements
Rain, snow, and humidity can cause premature wear on fire pit components.
- We suggest a weather resistant cover for your fire pit
- If you live in a coastal or high-moisture environment, covering is especially important to prevent mineral buildup.
4. Check Ignition Systems
Electronic spark igniters and push-button systems should be tested regularly.
- Keep ignition ports clean and free of buildup.
- Replace batteries in electronic igniters as needed.
- If you ever notice inconsistent lighting, it may be time to clean or replace the igniter.
5. Seasonal Deep Cleaning
Once or twice a year, give your fire pit a full check-up:
- Remove lava rock or fire glass to clear out any soot or dirt.
- Clean out the burner pan and drainage holes.
- Reinstall fire lava rocks or fire glass evenly for even flames.
6. Operate with Care
Even the best equipment lasts longer when used properly.
- Avoid pouring liquids into your fire pit.
- Do not use your fire pit as a cooking grill unless it’s designed for it.
- Always shut off the gas supply when not in use.
