Fire Pit Sizing Guide

Which burner fits which pan, how big to cut your opening, and which gas kit matches the way you'll run it. Every pairing below comes from a kit we already build and ship.

Step 1 — Measure

Cut the opening 1/4" wider than the pan

Your pan drops into the opening and rests on its lip, so the hole is cut to the pan's outside dimensions plus about 1/4 inch. That gap is deliberate: stainless expands as the burner heats, and a pan cut tight will bind.

Measure the opening, not the table. A 38×10" pan needs roughly a 38.25×10.25" cut. Pans are 2" deep with a 1/2" to 1" lip, so allow at least 2" of clear depth below the surface, plus room for the burner's 1/2" NPT fitting and hose beneath it.

Step 2 — Shape

Round pit or linear table?

Burner shape follows the shape of your opening. Round and square openings take a ring; long rectangular openings take a T, H, or straight burner.

Burner shapes and available sizes

Single RingOne circle of flame6", 35", 48", 60"
Double RingTwo concentric rings, fuller display12", 18", 24", 36"

H-BurnerFills wider pans, 10" widths20", 30", 40"
Straight / Log LighterSingle line of flame6", 12", 24", 36", 48", 60"

The 35", 48" and 60" single rings are built to run around a statue or water feature rather than fill a pit.

Step 3 — Pair

Proven pan and burner combinations

These are the exact pairings in our Complete Kits. If your opening matches one of these, the sizing is already solved. Ring pairings use the double ring burner.

Building to a size that isn't listed? The pattern is straightforward — a T-burner runs about 2" shorter than its pan, an H-burner about 8 to 10" shorter, and a ring about 4" smaller than a square pan's width. Call us before you cut and we'll confirm the combination.

Step 4 — Gas

Pick the kit that matches your setup

The burner is the flame; the kit is everything that gets gas to it. All four install in about 15 minutes, are outdoor-use only, and are sold with the burner separate so you can size it from the tables above.

CK Basic Propane

20PSI adjustable LP regulator and a 12-foot high-pressure hose. Flame is controlled at the tank — no fireside adjustment.

Choose ifTank sits away from the pit and you're happy adjusting at the tank.
CK+ Deluxe Propane

Adds a key valve with cover plate and key, plus 3-foot and 12-foot hoses, so you can raise and lower the flame at the pit.

Choose ifYou want fireside flame control. Our most popular kit.
ITCK+ LP In-Table

Built for a propane tank hidden inside the table cabinet. Two 3-foot hoses and key valve control.

Choose ifThe tank lives inside the fire table itself.
K++ Pre-Plumbed Gas

No regulator — connects straight to an existing gas stub via a 1/2" brass fitting. Works with natural gas or plumbed propane.

Choose ifYou already have a gas line run to the pit.

Two alloys, each where it belongs

The burner sits in the flame, so it's 316 marine-grade stainless — the grade that resists salt air and corrosion, and why we warranty it for life. The pan holds the media and takes the weight, so it's 304 stainless at 18 gauge: heavier-duty steel than most 304 pans on the market, which is what keeps it from oil-canning or warping once it's loaded and hot.
